The Time Machine

The Time Machine was an exhibit hosted by NHK Enterprises. This exhibit took you all the way back to 1964 Shibuya, Japan simply by using old photographs of the city from that timeframe. With the help of virtual reality, you are able to travel to Japan and see how it looked in 1964 as well as today.

I participated in this experience and I can confirm that it was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever been part of. The buildings from 1964 grew, and I was able to “step foot” on the famous crosswalk in Shibuya.

While in 1964 Japan, the experience allowed you to feel a statue that was placed in the city, which felt so real. It also allowed you to fly all the way into the sky and look down on the entire city, and see how tall the buildings have grown since then. I have never traveled to Japan before, but with the invention of virtual reality, I was able to put on a headset and travel 6,551 miles all the way to Shibuya, Japan.
