Earlier this week, I managed to sit in on the “Giving Birth in America” panel, which focused on the current maternal health crisis in the United States. The panelists, all women, discussed in length their own stories in relation to the topic, as well as how it influenced them to take action with regard to the movement.
Of particular focus was on the realities new mothers face in the present United States with regard to the accessibility to decent healthcare and treatment of women during maternity and post-partum. This was especially focused on with respect to disparities faced by perceived ethnic minorities within the nation.
“We have a great vehicle in social media to reach women across this nation,” Jennie Joseph of Commonsense Childbirth stated during the panel discussion.
Check out my video interview with Mrs. Joseph as she talks about the contents of the panel and what she does!
