Immigration Narratives in Mainstream Media: An Interview With Sarah Stillman

Media narratives play a vital role in the formation of public opinion and policy, particularly in terms of immigration. The panel Creating New Stories of Immigration focused on how these narratives are interacting with our current political environment. Panelists also discussed a variety of new techniques media professionals can use to frame immigration more positively.

I had a chance to speak with Sarah Stillman, a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine and Director of the Global Migration Project at Columbia University, about her views on creating new immigration stories.
