Social Shopping: the Influencer Tech Driving Billions

Amber Venz Box of rewardStyle with Fitz Tepper of TechCrunch

Amber Venz Box is the Co-Founder and President of rewardStyle and the cross-channel consumer shopping service, LIKEtoKNOW.it.

Venz Box’s first foray into the online fashion world was a blog she started back in 2010. She then realized that she needed to make money off that blog and thus rewardStyle was born in 2011. RewardStyle is a platform that allows for end-to-end content monetization. LIKEtoKNOW.it allows you to shop across multiple platforms including Snapchat and Pintrest. When you take a screenshot or like a post any platform you are then emailed with the product details from the post.

LIKEtoKNOW.it has some very successful statistics

  • $100 Million in sales to retail partners
  • 7 Million MyLikes emails delivered every month
  • More than 1.9 Million followers on @LIKEtoKNOW.it
  • 1,000 original pieces of content published daily
  • 75% consumers between ages 18-34
  • 65% content consumed on mobile
  • Of the 100,000 applications they receive, about 12,000 influencers get accepted

When Venz Box first started her blog, it was just photographs of the outfits she styled for her clients. She then realized she needed to monetize her blog as that’s where most of her traffic was going. “My business moved online before I did,” she said.

At first, all they saw were new social media platforms that were only desktop based. As social media networks turned to mobile, they had to as well. Box recalled a time when she used to carry around a camera and take photos and then wait for them to develop but then “All of a sudden I have this tool that takes great pictures & can edit them in app.”

LIKEtoKNOW.it was created as a solution to the closed platform that Instagram was. You have this new tool and platform but it was completely mobile, closed because you could not like out and not on the desktop at all. They had to find a way to get these links out to the consumer in a unique and native way and therefore LIKEtoKNOW.it was born. Box used her friendly relationship with boutiques and shops around Dallas to earn a commission and for them to track where those purchases are coming from.

Fast forward to 2017, more than five years later and “a big trend we saw was the Now economy. There’s an app for that, instant food, we want instant fashion now,” she said, in regardless to their new app. In LIKEtoKNOW.it’s new app, they have patented a new software that scans screenshots from your device and matches them to products in their ever-expanding directory of images and lets you know where it can be purchased immediately. “Fashion is unique as it comes to image search. They want the exact same piece of clothing & track it down,” Venz Box said.

She also spoke of how elite their influencers are and the on-going education they provide to their top performers. They hold an annual conference and their influencers are more than 40% more productive after those events. “When we look at influencers, we are invitations only & only work with those who have created a lot of content.”

If you are interested in fast fashion or just want to know where you can buy the clothing you saw on Instagram or Pintrest, then LIKEtoKNOW.it is the service for you & it is available worldwide.
