When one thinks of branding and the pioneers in utilizing new media and second screen effectively to build a brand and ultimately an empire, a lot of organizations come to mind. One that probably doesnt, is the WWE.
The WWE, or World Wrestling Entertainment for the uninitiated, was founded in the 1950s. It has been around for generations. Many fans are second generation, getting the bug from their dad’s or uncles. Under the wing of it’s Chairman, Vince McMahon, it has not only managed to stay relevant, but it has exploded and dominated the new media space.
Their SXSW panel, hosted by WWE presenter Michael Cole saw WWE Superstar John Cena and Stephanie McMahon, who is also the organization’s Chief Brand Officer speak eloquently and intelligently along side their Executive Vice President of Digital Media Perkins Miller aon how why social media is an intergal part of branding and business today.
A very impressive and well put together panel. WWE is a case study of what a lot of businesses, especially established legacy businesses, should be adopting and doing today to stay relevant and successful.
