This is chock full of great advice. Sometimes it’s hard to remember the fundamentals of presenting when all you can think about is getting it over with. The 3 P’s and the tongue twisters are useful and easy to remember. I think the best advice is to make the complex understandable– I know when I dive into my work and have a solid understanding of it, I sometimes forget that not everybody else has done the same research as I have. I’m glad these pointers don’t suck!
I often tend to get overwhelmed by presenting in front of people and find myself stuttering… a lot, so the 3 P’s as well as the tongue twisters are definitely something I have to use when getting ready to present. In my theatre days we always would do some of these tongue twisters mentioned as warm-ups. I’m sure this was a fun/funny panel to attend!
People often assume that since I was a Theatre major that I dont get nervous when I present and that is just not true. I like that the session included vocal exercises and tongue twisters. I also like how they mentioned to “make the complex understandable”. I know I appreciate when I go to workshops because sometimes the presenter may be talking in complex terms about a subject the audience is not familiar with.
