Next Nature Habitat VR at the Virtual Cinema

Human, what is your natural habitat? – Next Nature

The question Next Nature asks might seem like a simple one, but the truth is that the answer is much more complex.

Next Nature’s 11-minute presentation took me through a variety of environments, the Garden of Eden, the Hypernatural Resort, Modernist Dream and Techno Favela.

The central goal to Next Nature’s presentation is to make its audience think about the future of the spaces we inhabit.

The Garden of Eden is a natural beauty, full of swaying grass and lush foliage. While absolutely gorgeous, the Garden of Eden is a step into the past, not a step towards our future habitat. Simply put, there would be no doctors or modern technology in such an habitat.

The Modernist Dream is essentially a step into vaporwave listener’s dream, as a cyberpunk Matrix-styled environment came to life under the the sounds of 2 8 1 4. I had to ask, in the future, could we live in an entirely simulated environment?

In the Techno Favela, computers and machines have complete control over life through automation. The entire environment is comprised of cold grey steel. Machines are the dominant force in this world, although life for humans is easy and simple under their care.

In the Hypernatural Resort, the entire world is bio-engineered. It could seem like the Garden of Eden in some ways, except every creature is in perfect harmony with the environment. Everything channeled a bio-luminescent energy. Out of all of the environments, I truly wish I could have shared this one with the world. I found the peacefulness and sustainability as absolutely dream-like.
