SXSW Marketing Expo Through Google Glass

The SXSW marketing EXPO allows start ups to established brands a place to set up booths and focus on introducing new products promoting special deals and serve as a general trade show. Using Google Glass today I walked through the marketing expo to see the hundreds of booths that vendors had set up to display their new marketing companies, products and services they were hoping to get noticed at the festival.

Some interesting things I noticed about using Google Glass today was that it seemed to be of less interest to people compared to the first day that it was in use. When Jordon Hattery used it on Friday of the conference after the first ten minutes he had it on he was approached by a half dozen people asking about it. Today not a single person asked about it and at one point when I was wearing it a person shouted “OK Glass take a picture.” I had thought of doing this when first trying Glass and found it funny that people were already trying this.

It’s clear that while this new technology while strange and seemingly far out and futuristic will quickly become the norm. The rate of how quickly became accustomed to it at SXSW shows that it’s not far off in how quickly it will spread through the rest of the population when it hits mass markets next year.
