Second patient cured of HIV

A London patient is the second to be considered cured of HIV. In may, 2016 he received a stem cell transplant from a donor with a rare CCR5 mutation that allows for HIV resistance. He also underwent chemotherapy and until September 2017 took antiretroviral medication.

Luke Perry dead at 52

Luke Perry, actor popularly known for his roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and the CW’s “Riverdale” died from a stroke Monday at age 52. He debuted in film as champion bull-rider Lane Frost in “8 Seconds” and enjoyed a prolific acting career. He is frequently described as warm and caring by executives and coworkers now reeling from the sudden loss.

Security vs. Privacy. Using a phone number as part of Facebook’s two-factor authentication may be secure, but it is not private. Profiles continue to be searched and found by phone number, almost a year after Facebook said this feature would no longer be available. Additionally, phone numbers are provided to advertisers for targeted posts.

AT&T begins restructuring Warner Media

Streaming services changes ahead: Appeals court rejects Justice Department bid to overturn ruling approving AT&T’s purchase of TimeWarner, now called WarnerMedia. The new media powerhouse plans to immediately restructure WarnerMedia to better compete with Netflix and Disney streaming services.
