Let’s put our cards on the table here, most if not all of you reading this have tried marijuana at some point in your life. According to a Yahoo/Marist poll the majority of American adults have tried it at some point in their life.
Now let’s pivot to sex for a second. According to a “This Is How The Universe Works” poll, 100% of American adults are the result of sex; and I’m going to take a leap and say that all of you reading have tried that at some point as well.
Sex is part of our lives and, whether we like it or not, with the increase in legalization and destigmatization of marijuana use that is becoming more and more part of our daily lives as well.
So when thinking about it, a cross between the two is bound to happen. Last weekend I sat in on a recording of the American Sex Podcast, hosted by Sunny Megatron and Ken Melvoin-Berg. In this episode the husband and wife duo interviewed Ashley Manta, self-proclaimed “cannasexual“.
As you saw in the video above, the podcast regards everything having to do with sex. So it was natural that at some point they’d have an expert such as Manta come on the show. This episode, which you can listen to here on Monday, spoke to some of the misconceptions people have with marijuana itself, as well as the act of mixing THC (and other products such as hemp or CBD) with sex.
One of the biggest takeaways from this episode was that there are a multitude of applications and situations where the introduction of a product like these with sex would make sense. From those who suffer from body shaming and low self-confidence, to anxiety and the need for relaxation, all the way to recovering from physical/sexual abuse and the assistance it would have in helping—especially new—parents really find that postnatal balance and switch from parent mode to couple mode.
The most important thing Manta stressed when mixing the two is really “dialing in on your doses”, and “[having] a conversation with your partner about what you want to create together that night.” As well as ways to help mitigate the experience if it takes a turn for the worse. She mentioned the chewing of black peppercorns as a way to help calm down and a product called Undoo, which is a supplement intended to reduce the effects of overconsumption.
Since the majority of us are in Texas or another state where THC based products are illegal; there are plenty of products containing CBD and/or hemp which can have positive effects on the sexual experience. Always remember to follow the laws in your local/state government when regarding any products derived from the cannabis plant, in some areas any product derived from the plant is illegal regardless of THC content.
