Moderated by Laura Brounstein from Cosmopolitan Magazine with guest speakers Lila King, Eva Chen, Claudine Cazian Britz and Lauren Wirtzer-Seawood
For the inside scoop of successfully mastering the art of Instagram, these four panelists came from the inside of Instagram itself. All four women have their own area of expertise for Instagram. Lila King leads global news & publisher partnerships for Instagram and works with journalists, publishers and newsrooms to strategize using Instagram. Lauren Wirtzer-Seawood works with bands, musicians, and labels to connect with users on Instagram. She mentions she helps figure out how to do that best and what pitfalls to watch out for as well as how to reach goals that brands are looking for. Eva Chen oversees fashion for models, designers, and runways of Instagram. She mentioned the Instagram that she thinks does very well is Victoria Beckham, who she said has great content on her insta stories while Donatella Versace does spectacular at her insta feed. Last is Cazian Britz, who works with high-profile celebrities and films for Instagram promotion. She helps with reach fans engagement for these icons on Instagram. Her favorite celebrity (who in her opinion does a great job) is Will Smith because he wanted to do three things for his Instagram: entertain, educate and inspire.
The panelists offer some insight into things that everyone who wants their Instagram to be successful needs to know. Here are the three do’s for Instagram according to the panelists.
Use your Instagram Stories
Cazian mentions for a celebrity or any Instagram user stories are the most engaging. She says stories are super fun because it is lightweight content and you can turn everyday moments into content.
People love everyday moments because people love that interaction.
Cazian also suggest if you are not sure about what to post on a story find at least five things that you do weekly or daily that are consistent. If you share your daily coffee, or where your live, or what you do at work, it is great content for followers to watch and want to watch.
Lauren also chimes in by saying that stories are personal, and the more personal content is going to get more engagement than the professional content. This comes across as authentic and produces a bigger audience on Instagram.
Engaging Content
Eva being a part of the fashion industry stresses that you don’t just think you need to put the cool stuff or professional highlights on your Instagram content. She uses examples from the people she works with that are in the fashion industry. She says most people don’t work in the higher up fashion cities or jobs, so the groups of people who love fashion love the engagement from people’s everyday lives. She emphasizes for people to share because not everyone is living or doing what you do… so share!
Be consistent with your content
According to Cazian, she mentions that people open the Instagram app 25 to 30 times a day. So, give them that content, she advises.
Lauren understands that people want more followers, but she says it’s the engagement that is important. If you don’t post constantly and are not engaging, then the less followers and engagement you have. How do you post things that are true to you? You want to make things authentic. For example, a selfie video telling fans where they are playing is more engaging than a poster post. The more frequently you post the more likely fans will see your post.
Eva says if you are not constantly posting then you are not feeding your followers content. So, if you are only posting once a week, then your followers are not seeing your content.
Overall the panelists from Instagram knew their stuff for sharing content. For anyone who is looking to grow or promote more on their Instagram, this was the panel to see.
