The summer of 2013 saw a meteoric rise to the political future of State Senator Wendy Davis. After a nearly 13 hour filibuster, she was catapulted into a national spotlight.

Jessica Luther was one of the main activists involved during the filibuster and the subsequent protests at the Capitol.

Along with Julie Gillis, a writer and activist, Luther will host a core conversation at SXSWi about the role that social media plays in activism and if this new role of digital media in politics can turn Texas into a blue state.

The panel, Can Stories Turn Texas Blue? Digital Media & HB2, will be on Tuesday, March 11, from 5-6 p.m. in room 5ABC at the Austin Convention Center.
