Aron Pilhofer, The New York Times Interactive editor talked with me about the importance of teaching data journalism in schools, as well as how imperative it is for students to utilize social media. He emphasized that students need to take initiative in developing skills and that excelling at one thing is key in journalism today. Additionally, Pilhofer spoke about the shortage of women in the programming aspect of data journalism, as well as how there is always a need for good designers and programmers.
