Andrew McNeill went to director Hugh Forrest to propose adding a sports track to SXSWi. His proposal was approved and 2012 will be the first year for SXSWi to have a track dedicated to everything sports. While there have been sports panels in the past, the new sports track will allow sports media professionals, athletes and executives to present a wide range of sports topics. The panels feature some big names in the world of sports, including Green Bay Packer’s wide receiver Greg Jennings and Rachel Nichols from ESPN, and the topics covered range from the future of the sports beat reporter to the growth of fantasy sports.
