What ever shall I do with my valuable SXSW time next week? So many panels to choose from, and, sheepishly, I don’t want to be alone for them all! Leaving some buffer time to visit panels with other “Southby” visiting classmates, here’s my tentative list:
10:00 a.m. – Scope Creep and Other Villains – Fun is sure to ensue while likening the perils of web design to villains and learning how to be a virtual superhero. While I’m no web designer yet, I think this will help me learn some cool digital super powers for future attacks.
11:30 a.m. – Sponsored Panel: Responsible Web Design – Again, not a web designer (yet), but it’s interesting to me how the “bare minimun” when making websites is no longer working. I think a lot of TV news websites could learn a lot from this panel – as I intend to
1:oo p.m. – Find some food somewhere?
2:00 p.m. – Keynote Interview with Mark Zuckerberg – No need to explain this one
3:00 p.m. – Hang out with Marky Z, throw stuff off the bridge…
3:30 p.m. – Core Conversation: Cooking up Accessible Video for the Web – I am really interested in vlogging and the way videos are diffused on the Net. This seems like it will have a lot of practical information on how to convert certain formats for the Web and make them as pleasing to the user as possible.
5:00 p.m. – Africa 2.0: Affecting Change Using Technology – This one really piques my interests as I think it’s fascinating to see technology in other cultures – especially in countries as foreign to me as Africa. This seems like it will be very eye-opening to the world around me and make me think of technology in a more global way.
Well, that’s all I’ve got for Sunday’s SXSW Interactive time…I’m sure I’ll have more for Tuesday’s visit. Can’t wait!
