Shawn White Breaks History in Pyeongchang Winter Games 2018

Shaun White was able to bring home a third gold medal in the men’s half pipe while also becoming the first American man to win gold at three separate Winter Olympics. This was a huge comeback for White after failing to medal at the Sochi Games and suffering a devastating injury while training for the Olympics in October 2017. Florida High School Shooting Marks the 18th School Shooting this Year

This past Ash Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, there was a mass shooting that resulted in 17 victims dead and 14 wounded, five with life-threatening injuries. The suspect, known as Nikolas Cruz, is now in custody and has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder. President Trump has also commented on the recent shooting. Snapchat New Update: Chasing Celebrity Users

Its no secret that the backlash to the new Snapchat update has caused more than a couple of    angry tweets. The response has been in response to a move to change Snapchat back to its original format. However, there is a reason for the new updates layout.  CNN Tech quoted Snapchat’s parent company (SNAP) as saying “it will give users such as celebrities and so-called social media influencers more data about how their posts are performing.” To read more about the update, see the Twitter link below.

Top Universities Will Roll Out Computer Science Ethics Courses

Starting this semester, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are jointly offering a new course on the ethics and regulation of artificial intelligence. According to The New York Times, the course aims to train technologists and policymakers to consider the effects their new innovations (self-driving cars, etc.) will have on society before they go on sale.

Augmented Reality Workspaces Are Underway

While the focus of augmented reality has been primarily on the gaming world, most of the people developing mixed-reality tech believe that the workplace is where AR will truly thrive. It may not be for a while, but the potential for AR in this field could completely revolutionize the way we work. Imagine being the only one who can see your workspace and never having to deal with obnoxious coworkers again.

Google Is Replacing Facebook’s Traffic To Publishers

According to Recode, Google plans to help publishers by replacing the traffic lost from Facebook’s new algorithm. More and more publishers have been signing up for the Google publishing format known as Accelerated Mobile Pages in hopes of regaining their audience numbers. During its developer conference earlier this week, Google announced that 31 million websites are currently using AMP. This number is a 25 percent increase since October.
