Preview: Active Meditation to Shift Your Sh*t & Increase EQ

Erin Rachel Doppelt is a world traveler and leads workshops focusing on meditation and mindfulness. Her workshops are formed from her experience and knowledge acquired from living in the Middle East and South East Asia, as well as her graduate studies in psychology at Columbia University. In her upcoming workshop Active Meditation to Shift our Sh*t & Increase EQ, Erin will demonstrate diverse meditative techniques, which are beneficial to content absorption, increased immunity, and self-awareness. Moreover, she will focus on emotional intelligence and positive psychology, specifically to engage audience members in self-awareness of compulsive thought patterns.

Can you tell me about the work you do and how you got started?

I’m thrilled to share my story with your community! I travel around the world sharing active meditation and a handful of other workshops rooted in positive psychology, emotional intelligence, intuitive eating and movement, and spiritual development. This work was birthed as a response to our current human experience (e.g., the rise of anxiety, depression, compulsive negative thoughts, Dis-Ease). Meditation is not a Band-Aid, but rather a life-altering practice that can support self-discovery and healing. After working in corporate America, I moved to Israel to study food systems, connecting to land, the divine feminine, EQ (emotional intelligence), coexistence, and prayer. This trip led me to India, where I worked in the slums of Mumbai, studied yoga, meditation, movement, and minority communities. When I returned back to the States, I started grad school at Columbia University, focusing on Clinical Psychology and spiritual practices. I have launched a Nourish and Flourish retreat in Tulum, Mexico, May 3-8, 2018, other meditation intensive workshops around the world, and also offer one on one spiritual, life, and health coaching.

What made you and your company want to speak at SXSW?

Spiritual Intelligence, LLC is in the business of showing up and sharing with goodness and authenticity, in the hopes of encouraging all beings to Account for the Soul and connect to their inner truth through conscious dialogue and meditation. Innovation, expression, and creativity are at the core of Spiritual Intelligence’s mission, and we are overjoyed to be accepted as a PanelPicker. SXSW offers a truly unique venue for people to come together, share important ideas, and experience life with one another, and will provide a great platform for our company to interact with a new audience.

What inspired you to come up with the idea of your panel?

Our current political climate inspired the marriage between emotional intelligence and meditation because we need to understand how we feel and think, while also being mindful of how the community we serve, our social groups, and workplace feels and thinks. This idea came to be after spending a significant amount of time abroad as a solo female traveler with different beliefs systems than the person I was in company with, yet we were still to have deep moments of meaning together. Just because we have different core beliefs doesn’t mean we can’t facilitate meaningful conversation or see opposite our own conflict.

What is the focus of your panel?

The Panel will focus on building your own meditation routine with diverse practices supported by both spirituality and science. Topics will touch on active or movement meditation, mantra meditation, breath work practices, and a chakra mindfulness body scan incorporating both Jungian and Freudian analysis to the chakra system. Each participant will leave feeling rested, calm, centered, and present, and also inspired to build their own meditation practice.

What makes your panel stand out from other panels?

You want to absorb all the content offered at SXSW? Then YOU must come to this panel! Meditation aids in increased immunity, better memory and recall, so attending this workshop will help you retain all of the information that you will receive over the SXSW festival, and stay healthy when you resume your life at home. Active meditation aids in content absorption increased immunity and reduces anxiety and stress – show up!

What do you want audience members to take away from your panel?

You are one breath away from a healthier headspace. You dimming your light or ignoring your true calling isn’t cute or interesting. May this be a time to start showing up for self to better serve the world.
