Glenn Greenwald appeared before an audience 10x smaller then Edward Snowden’s panel. He didn’t need to be patched through 7 proxies to speak with SXSW, and he spoke from what looked like an office in his house.
His panel hit home on what journalism should be. For the people. His work with Snowden has been going for over six months. He say’s that it will most likely continue for at least another six or seven months.
His reasons for taking so long to release the full amount of information is that he needs time to not only to sift through the information but to also work with the correct media organizations where it will have the most impact locally. He say’s the most shocking information from the Snowden papers has yet to be released.

Greenwald is pushing for encrypted communication tools that are easily acessible and to use for ordinary people. He said that after Snowden ended up in Russia he had trouble understanding the tools that he needed to make it possible for the two of them to communicate.
As individuals begin to explore more opportunities for encrypted technology the NSA still see’s this as suspicious behavior, when their is nothing suspicious about it.
Personal Democracy Media co-founder Micah Sifry moderated the interview.

Do you have a link to a video on Glenn Greenwald’s segment at SXSW? I was able to watch the complete presentation by Ed Snowden and also Julian Assange that was posted on YouTube within minutes after they finished speaking. Did SXSW block the release of Greenwald’s presentation?

Hey Jeff,
I apologize for the slow response. I don’t believe that SXSW blocked the release. I know certain panels were filmed and certain ones were not. It doesn’t look like the Glenn Greenwald is available.
