Preview – Left Brain Search = Google, Right Brain Search = X

Do you ever wish that search engines could read your mind?  This could be closer then you might think.  On Saturday, March 12 some of the top names in search will come together to discuss how search is evolving into a tool that better understands how people talk, think, and feel and why that leads to relevant, personalized results.

Innovative sites like Moodfish.com are already incorporating this type of search in useful ways.  Nik Daftary who runs Moodfish, created the site to provide localized entertainment recommendations based on any individual’s mood.  If you’ve ever attempted using a regular search engine to try and figure out what’s going on in your neighborhood on a Tuesday night, you’ve probably come out disappointed.   This is where new search technologies can be applied in practical ways and why sites like Moodfish are on the brink of something huge.

Daftary along with representatives of Google Hotspot, Microsoft/Bing, InfoTheory, and Stanford University will discuss the changing search, show us how each of their companies are working towards a better user experience, and give us a glimpse at their newest products.  Be sure to check out their panel, “Left Brain Search=Google. Right Brain Search=X” at 5pm on Saturday, March 12 at the Hilton (Salon H).
